Bonn Om Touk – Cambodia’s Water Festival

Cambodia’s Water Festival, Bonn Om Touk, is celebrated during the full moon of the Buddhist month of Kadeuk (usually in November). This marks the end of the rainy season and the change in the direction of the Tonle Sap River, which has a large influence on the life of peasants and fishermen. During this festival, there are 3 main meaningful activities including colourful boat races along the river (Loy Pratip), a moon salutation ceremony (Sampeah Preah Khae) and celebratory servings of Auk Ambok.

Visitors traveling Cambodia during this celebration will also get a chance to taste Dal Om Bok, a specialty cake that is only made during the Water Festival. This festive and unique cultural celebration is not one to be missed.
