Visit a tea empire in Nuwara Eliya – The Heart Of British Ceylon

Sri Lanka is famous for its tea industry. Head to Heritage Tea Factory in Nuwara Eliya, known as “Little England”, where you can tour neatly terraced tea estates, watch pickers at work and buy your own samples to take home. In some plantations, you can even pick your own tea, however, it is not easy as it looks for travelers.

Located 167.5 km away from the busy city of Colombo, you will take a 4-hour drive through rolling green hills and cascading waterfalls to Nuwara Eliya. With English colonial buildings dotted all over town, the locals have adopted the name ‘Little England’, especially with the weather being very crisp and cool most of the time. It reminds tourists of England which is well known for the similar weather and temperature giving the English a taste of home.
