Conquer Sigiriya: The Lion Rock of Sri Lanka

Sigiriya is an incredible rock fortress of historical and archaeological significance. Considered as the only witness of Ceylon civilization during the reign of King Kassapa, It was once a magnificent royal palace and a Buddhist monastery. Today, only the foundation walls remain, however, the exquisitely colorful frescoes and graffiti poetry from the 7th century still surprises visitors.

Take time to calmly climb to the top of the fortress surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and en route to the upper palace, the oldest surviving palace in Sri Lanka. The upper gardens employed an advanced irrigation system that utilized surface and subsurface hydraulic systems, which is rather impressive for an ancient palace. At the summit, take in breath-taking panoramic views, marveling at the historic and natural beauty.
