Conquer Sigiriya: The Lion Rock of Sri Lanka

Sigiriya, an incredible rock fortress of historical and archaeological significance, is considered as the only witness of Ceylon civilization during the reign of King Kassapa. It is nearly 200 meters, once a magnificent royal palace and a Buddhist monastery. Today, it’s only the foundation walls, however, the exquisitely colorful frescoes and graffiti poetry from the 7th century still surprise the tourists.

Take time to calmly climb to the top of the rock where is home to beautifully landscaped gardens and the upper palace, the oldest surviving palace in Sri Lanka. The upper gardens employed an advanced irrigation system that utilized surface and subsurface hydraulic systems. From here, you can enjoy the breath-taking 360º view.
